Screen Fairy

Just a little reminder to myself that I should, by no means, start working again. I work at a computer all day, and when I get into a zone, it's hard to stop. Hallucinating usually helps, though.

Flea Problem

So this is why daily uploads didn't really start yesterday. Ugh. After getting these miserable little bites all over my ankles and legs, I've finally had to admit that we have a flea problem. The evil kitty probably left them. Spent two days cleaning and still getting bites, and today we're doing the bombs. The worst part is, fleas love me. I get bit more than anyone else in the house, no matter who I'm living with. It all started when Delilah first got fleas in my Goleta place... since then, no matter how much I clean, how much I treat, how much I do anything, or even if they disappear for years at a time, it seems they are always doomed to pop up at some point in my life, and I have these terrible flashbacks. UGH UGH UGH.

Screw the common cold, we need a better cure for these guys.

Fall Line-Up

This is how I think every "Cathy" comic should end. Also, I SWEAR it's how I ended up eating that giant Crumbs cupcake after lunch yesterday. How else? I also drew a bunch of Angler Fish for Different Occasions while at my internship yesterday, probably post later.

This one's really sketchy, still getting used to the tablet after so long of not using it, and since this "comic" was longer I got pretty lazy with it. Oh well, I'll have to figure out how I want panels to look if I do them, but I think I'll pretty much switch to tablet a majority of the time. Whoo. Digital.

I wish this was my life. It would make apartment searching a lot more exciting.

Was watching Doctor Who reruns on BBC America today, and it was the last episode with Sarah Jane Smith, who recently passed away. Aside from the other wonderful things in that episode (K-9, Anthony Stewart Head), the Doctor finally said goodbye. A perfect farewell for perhaps the most famous and beloved companion.

And, for those who don't understand the heaviness of all that Who gibberish:

I gotta get used to writing with the Bamboo tablet again. Pulled its install disks out of a dusty drawer and finally reinstalled them on my laptop. Boy, it's sloppy now, but hopefully good in the long run.

Production companies during the sumer are SO slow. Everyone's gone. Execs, assistants, even interns. Everyone has a summer break except Mia. So, doing nothing all last week lead to the above comic, and this:

This is an actual excerpt from a real life conversation I had yesterday. The things that are not real in this strip: I have not worn the same sweater for the last four years, we don't have a water cooler, and if a pretty girl like that talked to me at a party in college I was incapable of stringing together a coherent sentence.

I was at a party a couple months ago, and there was literally a shit-ton of people there. Like an SI measurement of a shit-ton. The house was big and full of people, so we walked out to the patio. The patio was full of people, so we walked to the yard. The yard was full of people, so we walked to the secondary yard. That's right: a secondary yard. The secondary yard was full of people so we walked to the hidden secret discovery yard. Oh yeah. It was a lot like discovering Specter from Big Fish. There were Christmas lights hanging everywhere and I'm not sure how I got there. Was able to hold onto my shoes and escape, luckily. On an unrelated note, don't drink absinthe, kids.

P.S. Are you one of those people who, if you're at a new friend's house, a party, or other social gathering, and they have a pet, you HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION TO THAT PET? Animals are friends to awkward people everywhere, but can be a hindrance to encourage your antisocial behavior. Or is that just me?

Hey guys, this is my very first entry into The Grown Ups Club. I drew this little comic a while ago (probably months ago, but my internal clock has been known to lie) and decided to start blogging my sketches instead of journal entries. I'm not a professional artist, and to be frank, I'm not even gonna try. Hey, it's a journal. I probably won't even use an eraser. I'm a rebel, man. What follows will be sketches, comics, and drawings from the day, and will be updated frequently (if all goes according to plan). I'd say more, but the comic is pretty introductory on its own, so this is all you get. For now.
